She's been on antibiotics for the last week and a half due to a double ear infection. Then out of nowhere she busts out with a 102+ fever from Saturday night all the way through to Sunday night. The doc said not to worry and that the fever wouldn't hurt her, it was just so horrible to see her so miserable. Thankfully it had eased up some this morning, and was down to the 99's, but it could still stand to improve.

Attempting to Walk!

This chick has fully decided that crawling just isn't for her, but walking, well that sounds fantastic! As I'm sure you understand, life gets crazy with an infant at home, and so much has been going on that it hasn't been at the front of my thoughts.

Some quick updates for you until a 'real' post:

Bailey is now eating solid foods, and has her first official sippy cup. Right now all she wants to do is chew on it rather than drink from it!

Although she just refuses to crawl, she can scoot without problem, and can walk/stand as long as we help keep her balanced.

She sits up like a champ! She was born on June 18th at 11:24pm, weighing in at 7lbs 6oz, 20 1/4in and perfect as can be.

I had been induced with Cytotec at about 8pm on Tuesday night, started on Pitocin at 6am the following morning and had my water broken at about 7am Wednesday morning. Thanks to all of that I was having non stop, intense contractions along with some difficulty with the monitors so needless to say I was not a happy camper. Not long after noon I broke down and got an epidural, which only lead to the trouble because it was a wee bit too strong. They said the way it ended up getting placed made it about a 50/50, half epidural, half spinal block which ended up being a good thing.

When we had gotten there Tuesday night I hadn't really changed at all from the previous doctor appointment, and by about 11 Wednesday night I was only 3 cm, -1 station, and 90% effaced. It didn't look like much was going to happen and I really didn't feel like I could do another full day of labor especially if there wasn't going to be any more progress so at the recommendation of our doc (and our wishes we went with a c-section). There was also still concern for her being a larger baby at that point so the doctor wasn't sure she would even come on her own...

Induction Day!

Today is the big day. Tonight, at approximately 7pm the beginning of the end will occur. We had our final doc appointment today (40 weeks), and still no major progress. I'm still just 1 1/2 cm dilated, but we are up to 50% effaced and she's dropped down more now to -1 to -2 station.

We are set to be induced Tuesday night, unless we get really lucky and she comes on her own before then. He also said that I was at high risk for needing a c-section due to her size, but that doesn't mean she won't come vaginally, so he wants to give that a shot first.

They are going to start the induction late Tuesday night, and then see how it progresses in the morning and go from there. I'm a little bummed that we'll have to be induced since it means a more intense labor, but I'd rather have a safer delivery for the both of us. Steven and I are just both glad to know that we'll have our little one in our arms by Wednesday at the latest, its such a great feeling!

Week 39 Appointment

As of this appointment really nothing has changed. He said that we're maybe 1 1/2 cm dilated, and that she's about -2 to -3 station so she has moved down just a little bit more. Everything else was really great and he seemed to be pleased. Though he did think it was a "bummer" (direct quote) that we hadn't made anymore progress. He said that a lot could happen in a week, so even though it doesn't look like much now she could still easily be here before the due date. However, if for some reason she isn't then we will be setting up a date to get induced at my next appointment. He doesn't want us even going to the 41 week mark so anytime within the next 2 weeks she's going to be here guaranteed. Its so incredible to know that its just around the corner. Literally any day now little Bailey will be here to give mommy and daddy even less sleep at night :) we can hardly stand the wait!

Week 38 Appointment

Today was the growth ultrasound and our 38 week appointment with the doc. Based on the ultrasound little Miss Bailey is not so little after all :) In fact she weighed in at approximately 8lbs 5oz (give or take a pound), though our doctor wasn't concerned with her weight so I suppose thats good. Everything else was just perfect, including her chubby little cheeks and hair! Yes I said hair! You could actually see it in the sonogram...guess she isn't going to be bald like mommy and daddy after all.

The appointment brought more good news. I'm still just 1cm dilated, she's at -3 station which means she's dropped some, and best of all we are now officially 20% effaced. He said it's just a waiting game now, and that he wants us delivered as close to the due date as possible (which means not going too far past the due date if she can't be on time or early).

Showin' Off the Bump

A few weekends back Steven and I went on a trip to the zoo to walk around (in an attempt to get things moving) and of course see the familiar critters. Still 1cm dilated, and Bailey is refusing to scoot her big booty down any. The doctor wants us to get a growth ultrasound next week before the 38 week appointment so we can check on her size and determine if she is 'head down' or if she's decided to wander and go breech at the last minute.

Everything else is perfect of course, and now we're just waiting for Thursday to get our last look at Bailey before she makes her appearance for good!

Another day, another appointment

Well today we go in for the 37 week appointment, which means...drum roll...we are officially full term now! As of last week I was 1cm dilated, but nothing else had happened so we were just basically waiting for a little progress.

Then yesterday I got to deal with 8 hours of the worst back pain (possibly contractions) so hopefully this means that something big is happening and I'll have a good update later.
